2016 Autumn Conferment of Decoration Mr Pat Tai CHOI
              
     On 3rd November, 2016, the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2016 Autumn Imperial Decorations. Mr Pat Tai CHOI is one of the 96 foreign recipients and he received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the development of the tourism industry between Japan and China.

Summary of Contributions
     Mr CHOI started the Japanese tour guide business in Hong Kong in 1968. In 1979, Mr CHOI established Pak Shing Travel Co., Ltd. and has served as President until present. In 1992, he became Chairman of the Hongkong Japanese Tour Operators Association, while in 2006 he became the Permanent Honorable Chairman of the Association. Mr CHOI has made a remarkable contribution for Hong Kong’s establishing its position as a major travel destination for Japanese travellers. In 2004, Mr CHOI became a member of the Security Consultation and Liaison Committee for Overseas Japanese organised by the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong and he has contributed to the efforts to enhance the safety of Japanese nationals. Mr CHOI was awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendations for the FY 2012. In addition, he has also received, inter alia, the Medal of Honour by the HKSAR government and the International President’s Award of the Lions Clubs International.
