Ambassador MIURA Jun, Consul-General,
visited the elderly care facility “Christian Family Service Centre Yam Pak Charitable Foundation King Lam Home for the Elderly”

On 24th July, Ambassador MIURA Jun, Consul-General of Japan in Hong Kong, accompanied by the former Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service Mr Chua Hoi Wai and others, visited the local elderly care facility “Christian Family Service Centre - Yam Pak Charitable Foundation King Lam Home for the Elderly”, where he toured the facility and exchanged views.
The Christian Family Service Centre opened the Yam Pak Charitable Foundation King Lam Home for the Elderly in 1991 as a residential facility for elderly people. Since 2017, it has introduced the Japanese-originated concept of “Independence Support Care”, held the Asia-Pacific Independence Support Seminar in Hong Kong, and actively practiced the independence support care model, while also working to promote the same model within the Hong Kong community.
Japan and Hong Kong are both long-lived societies with many elderly residents. To build a better society where older people can live comfortably, Japan and Hong Kong need to work closely together and learn from each other. Our consulate will continue to carry out activities that help strengthen cooperation between Japan and Hong Kong.
