Condolence Message from Ambassador MIURA Jun, Consul-General

Mr Tung Chee-hwa, who served as the first Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, passed away on 8th September. Mr Tung, in his capacity as Chief Executive, undertook official visits to Japan twice, in 1997 and 2001, and made notable contributions to the deepening of mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Hong Kong. On behalf of the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong, we would like to pay tribute to Mr Tung's great achievements and express our heartfelt condolences. May he rest in peace.
