This scholarship aims at providing an opportunity for Hong Kong and Macau students who wish to study at Japanese universities (National); giving them the necessary assistance for the pursuit of their studies.

For those majoring in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or a six-year course in pharmacy, the term of the scholarship is 7 years (The first year is language training)
Outline of eligibility
Age: born on or after 2 April 1995 (under 25 years old)
Education: have completed 12 years of regular school education or higher (Form 6 level)
Departure date
April 2020 (For cases of direct placement, grantees may depart for Japan in October 2020)

Designated by MEXT, based on your fields and subjects choices
Application Period
25 April (Thursday) to 25 June 2019 (Tuesday), must be received by 5:00pm
Selection process
1. Documents review
2. Written Test (Japanese, English, Mathematics): 4 July 2019 (Thursday) (For ALL applicants)
    Written Test (Chemistry, Biology or Physic) : 5 July 2019 (Friday) (Only for applicants who choose Natural Science field)
3. Interview : 24 July 2019 (Wednesday)
4. 1st screening notification: late-August 2019
5. Acceptance notification : January to February 2020

*Please note that the interviews and exams can only be conducted at the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong. Shortlisted candidates will be notified of the date and time of their interviews and exams.

It is not necessary to fill in Point 10 (6)Health examination certificate before passing the written test and interview, as this is the first stage of the application procedure.
