Reception to Celebrate the Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan in Hong Kong

On 20th February, Emperor's Birthday Reception 2025 was held in Hong Kong. The reception was attended by Hong Kong Government officials and members of the consular corps from various countries, as well as representatives from the business and academic communities and others.

Ambassador MIURA Jun, Consul-General of Japan, made the opening address, while the representative of the Financial Secretary, Deputy Financial Secretary The Hon. Michael Wong Wai Lun, gave a speech as the Guest of Honour and toasts were made with Japanese sake.

At the reception venue, eleven Japanese local prefectural governments and various organisations set up booths to promote their local specialities and alcohol beverages, while the JNTO booth provided the latest information on Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, which opens on 13th April this year. The official mascot of the Expo, MYAKU-MYAKU, also made an appearance and attracted a lot of attention. At the reception, the appeal of traditional Japanese culture was showcased through a koto and shakuhachi performance and an exhibition of ikebana flower arrangements added a colourful touch to the venue.
