Conferment of Decoration Mr. Wong Po Kit

 
　　On 3 November 2020, the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the Reiwa 2 Autumn Conferment of Decorations. The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays has been conferred on Mr. Wong Po Kit in recognition of his contribution to promoting the development of kendo in Hong Kong and exchanges with Japan through kendo. Details are as follows.

【Reference】

　　Mr. Wong Po-kit joined the fledgling Hong Kong Kendo Association in 1973, and during his 15 years as president from 1998 to 2009, and from 2016 to the present, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership and devoted his efforts in developing the association and increasing the number of kendo venues and the kendo fraternity in Hong Kong (There are currently 11 branches with approximately 1170 individual members).
   
　　As President of the Hong Kong Kendo Association, Mr. Wong also organizes a series of regional and international kendo tournaments, and is committed to promoting international exchange by means of kendo through exchange with Japan and other regions.

　　In addition, Mr. Wong has been active in promoting kendo and Japanese spiritual culture, contributing to increasing [an awareness of] Japanese culture and promoting an understanding of Japan, and in recent years, he has also been enthusiastic about promoting the Japanese martial art “iaido”.
