Mr. Kenichiro WASHIKITA awarded the Consul-General’s Commendation
 
The Consul-General’s Commendation presentation ceremony for Mr. Kenichiro WASHIKITA, former President, Vice President & Health Care & Medical Committee Head of the Hong Kong Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vice President of the Hong Kong Japanese Club and former Chairman of Hong Kong Japanese School Management Committee, was held on 28 March, 2024, and the award was presented by Mr. Kenichi OKADA, Consul-General (Ambassador) of Japan.

  The Consul-General’s Commendation is an award presented by Ambassadors/Consul-Generals in respective countries and regions to individuals or groups who have contributed to the promotion of mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and foreign countries and regions.


Mr. WASHIKITA served as President of the Hong Kong Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (April ~ June 2018), Vice President of the Hong Kong Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (July 2018 ~ June 2019, July 2022 ~ March 2024), and also as the first Health Care & Medical Committee Head of the Hong Kong Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (September 2021 ~ March 2024). He led the Health Care and Medical Committee and in November 2022, he launched the first Japan Pavilion at GIES, an exhibition event for elderly care equipment, to increase the presence of technologies and products owned by Japanese companies in Hong Kong in this field. Moreover, he issued a letter to the Hong Kong government requesting the relaxation of the drug registration system in Hong Kong, obtaining results such as the relaxation of some of the systems; and he worked hard to expand the distribution of Japanese drugs in the Hong Kong market, which is a prospect for the Greater Bay Area.
 
In addition, Mr. WASHIKITA also served as the Chairman of Hong Kong Japanese School Management Committee from July 2021 to June 2022. He has made a great contribution to the stable operation of the Hong Kong Japanese school, in an environment where school management was extremely difficult due to the Coronavirus disease.
 
Furthermore, he served as Vice President of the Hong Kong Japanese Club from April 2018 to March 2024, and put in great efforts to ensure the stable operation of the Hong Kong Japanese Club and the club restaurants.
 
With his extensive knowledge and network as well as his 17 years of living experience in Hong Kong; together with his proficiency in Cantonese, Mr. WASHIKITA has made an irreplaceable contribution to ensuring a stable living and business environment for the Japanese community in Hong Kong.
 
This time the Consul-General’s Commendation was presented to acknowledge Mr. WASHIKITA’s significant achievements.
