Water leakage at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (2024.2.7)
We are aware that on 7th February, at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, there was a water leak subject to legal reporting from a pipe on the wall of a building where equipment to purify contaminated water is installed.
We are informed that the amount of water leaked is conservatively assessed by TEPCO to be approximately 5.5 cubic metres, but that the leakage is confined to the surrounding soil, and there has been no change in the concentration of radioactive substances in nearby drainage channels or monitoring posts, and no external impact has been confirmed at this moment.
In any case, we are aware that TEPCO is continuing to confirm the details, and we expect TEPCO to continue to take all possible measures to ensure safety.
