In view of the large number of enquiries regarding the MEXT Scholarship, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions and suggest applicants to read the information before completing the application form. Under the scholarship programme of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Japanese Government will offer four types of scholarship for Hong Kong and Macau students wishing to pursue their studies at a Japanese university or Specialized Training College.

Applicants must be residents of Hong Kong/Macau and hold a Hong Kong/Macau SAR Passport/Document of Identity (DI). If you do not fulfil these requirements, please contact the Embassy/Consulate of Japan in your home country for details on how to apply for a scholarship. You can find the list of Japanese embassies/consulates overseas at https://www.mofa.go.jp/about/emb_cons/over/index.html.
